About the Skills Library's Online Skills PortfolioThe Online Skills Portfolio is a web-based portfolio that allows students to display essays, photos, artwork, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, music clips and more in a visually appealing portfolio. Students use an easy-to-use online form to create portfolio items and to upload files to the web. The portfolio includes a school/program Portfolio Home Page, which includes a list of participating students. From this portfolio home page, readers can click on a student name to view the student's Portfolio Table of Contents. From the Table of Contents, readers can click to view each Portfolio Item. The portfolio is organized around a customizable skills checklist - usually seven skills - that students demonstrate through their portfolio products. This online skills portfolio has been used over the past several years in high school classrooms and with homeschooling students. The online version was developed based on the sucessful pilot of a PC-based version. In 2009, it has been updated with some new features and a new look. The portfolio is available to schools, colleges and nonprofit youth programs as a low-cost fee-based subscription, based on number of users. Customization of the portfolio screens, as well as workshops for teachers and students are available for a fee. Please email Jennifer Leonard at jleonard@skillslibrary.com for more information.
