What's New in the FY2008 School to Career Database?
- This year's database now uses FileMaker Pro Version 8.5. The differences are small, but very nice, including easier-to-use dropdown lists. You can type a few letters of the item you want on a dropdown list and it will appear.
- FileMaker Pro Version 8.5 has a new feature that allows you to export a screen or report to a PDF file. (You can email the PDF to another person - but of course be aware that PDFs are just good for viewing and printing, not for importing or analyzing. On the menubar, click on File, Save/Send Records As... and choose PDF.
- There is also a new utility for more easily exporting to Excel. On the menubar, click on File, Save/Send Records As... and choose Excel.
- The Quarterly Work and Learning Performance Report is slightly redesigned. This PDF printout of the report shows you what the new report looks like.
- A new data-entry-only screen and a new limited-access password - intended for part-time data entry student interns - provides limited access to the database. Email to get the password.
- Upon request, an (optional) field for "Student cell phone" has been added to the placement screen, since many staff communicate with students via cell phone.
- A file called "Job Descriptions" is now available if you want to create a bank of job descriptions for Work-Based Learning Plans.
- Other, miscellaneous updates throughout the database.
