School and Career Electronic Portfolio Project
The School and Career Electronic Portfolio is an electronic
portfolio which organizes and displays student work. The portfolio
is organized using the School to Career Competencies and is
designed to help students connect their school, workplace and
community activities.
The portfolio is organized as a mini-database, using Microsoft Access. Students can attach a wide variety of Portfolio Items, including Microsoft
Word, PowerPoint, or Excel files, HTML pages, photos, scanned or
photographed artwork, video or music clips, and more. The portfolio
also includes a set of Portfolio Tools, including structured
essays, a brief career interest inventory, and a copy of the
Massachusetts Work-Based Learning Plan. The portfolio uses a
Skills List which includes the nine School to Career
Competencies plus a tenth competency based on the students'
career pathway or subject area. Teachers customize the Skills List
with definitions and examples that help students see how these
skills relate to their work.
